A ground-up redesign and build of this large leisure membership site
Active Luton approached Sandlebridge to discuss redesigning their existing legacy website, which had been built on the Joomla CMS platform. The website was running and old version of this software and significant issues existed around content architecture and mobile responsiveness. Although the expectation was that we'd rebuild on the same teck stack, Sandlebridge recommended a different appproach using the Webflow platform.
The main challenge lay in content organisation, structure and reflow of elements for tablet and smartphone users. Sandlebridge presented a completely new design concept, content architecture and technical specification. The project ran over many months as content needed to be curated from several departments, and during the development phase, new client stakeholders became involved.
The final outcome is a fast-loading and fully responsive modern website that represents twelve different physical locations within the borough of Luton, including leisure centres, athletics, golf courses and libraries. A massive undertaking in terms of project management and content, running to over 300 pages of dynamic content. The website is fully supported by Sandlebridge including providing ongoing tech support, design updates, technical SEO and third party integrations.
